Final Blog

#1.  I believe I am a creating mind beacause I usually tend to go against or put a new twist on the way society and the world view issues.  My blog is about staying faithful to your partner, which is the exact opposite of what society encourages.  I think I encouraged a newer, fresher way of thinking.

#2.  I exhibited curiosity when I researched famous couples who were monogomus and those who engaged in polygamy. I wanted to see the after effects of cheating and compare them with the lasting effects of staying faithful.  I challenged my own beliefs with this blog before I ever even started it.  I had to ask myself if I truly did believe in staying faithful to ones partner, and had to be confident in my belief in love.  Lastly, I tried to exhibit the hypothesis that those who stay faithful with their partners, and put effort into their relationships had a much happier life than those of who waisted their relationships by cheating.

#3.  What surprises me most after finishing this blog is how much I really do believe in the power of love.  I learned that one has to stay strong when dealing with the pressures of the world.  After studying the effects cheating has on people, I realize how important it is to stay strong against temptations.  If God is love, and all we need is love, then nothing else should remain more important.

The Right Kind of Love

A Tragic Love

One of the most devasting love stories to date is the tale of Princess Diana and Prince Charles.  Princess Diana was a women beloved by her people.  By nature she was not actually a standing princess.  That became her formal title after marrying Charles, the Prince of Whales.  Whether or not she had a royal title, she took on duties with full fledged honor and became known for her outstanding gift for charity work.  However, this is about as good as the story gets.  Her reputation and marriage to her husband were overshadowed by Prince Charle's numerous love affairs. The media captured Diana's devastation and watched as Prince Charle's left Diana for his mistress. As if this weren't tragic enough, Princess Diana was killed in a car accident at 36 years old.  Charles married his mistress and is still with her today.  No one deserves to be cheated on.  Marriage is a life long and sacred bond, not to be broken.  Princess Diana gave herself to her husband, and in return was left devasated.  The turmoil brought on by infidelity is everlasting. If you care about your significant other, staying true to them is one of the best gifts you can ever give.

The Heart of Rebellion

A pre-20th century novelist once wrote "The seat of rebellion, apparently the brain, is in reality the heart itself." This has so many relative meanings.  How many love movies, think of the Notebook right now, have you seen where a young rebellious soul fell in love only to struggle to keep love in reality? We often think too much with our heads and not our hearts. Responsibilities and pains that come with growing up cloud our emotions some times.  This quote however captures the hearts ability to take control of our rebellious sides. Think about what you would do for love.  Think of the Titanic, Romeo & Juliet, Dear John, The Guardian, or Taylor Roach & Jimmy Pierle. Each of these couples risked something diar to them in order to either prove or prolong thier love. What would you do for love?

A Love That Lasts (Nancy & Ronald Reagan)

Who has been more in the spotlight than the former president of the United States, Ronald Reagan.  What comes along with that, is the scrutiny on his relationship with his wife.  However, the public learned something quite intruiging when following the lives of these two.  Their love was long and lasting. One of the aspects of  their love story that I find most romantic and effective to their success as a couple is the letters that Ronald always wrote to his beloved wife. To see some of the letters go here http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/4201869/.  He wrote to her all the time, especially when they were apart.  This was one of the keys to their success as a couple.  He wanted her to know his thoughts and feelings.  The letters were a way for him to express his love for Nancy, and I'm sure she still holds them dear.  The last time the Reagan's were really in the news was following Ronald's death at the age of 93.  He suffered from Alzheimers Disease and his wife Nancy was at his side through it all.  This couple is a timeless example of loves greatest power.  This couple not only saw and ran the U.S. for 8 years, but did it with a healthy, love-filled marrage.

#63 Colts Center Jeff Saturday

In opposotion to the "Tigers" of today, there is a certain couple that comes to mind.  I personally got to meet and listen to a famous couple today that value their love and honor God in the process.  This coulpe is Jeff and Karen Saturday.  Saturday, number 63 for the NFL football team The Indianapolis Colts, explained how he was the exception for men in his profession, in that he is happily married, with children, to his high school sweetheart.  He further explained how he and his wife have been alienated from their friends and society to a degree because of their choice to remain faithful to each other.  Jeff said, "Men are in and out of the NFL all the time. I have seen and have had guys come to me telling me thier wives found out they were cheating.  I've even had guys tell me they've gotten other women pregnant and don't know how to tell their wives.  I just thank God my wife and I are committed to each other. Who wants to deal with that hardship?" What kind of society  do we live in where people who are faithful to each other are shunned?  Hopefully this gives some insight to why real love and fidelity are worth persuing.

Tiger Woods...Need I Say More?

The ultimate icon for infidelity today would have to be none other than Tiger Woods.  Here is a man who seemed to have everything, much like a lot of atheletes and stars in the spot light.  Tiger is a world renound golfer, has highly established sponsors, and a beautiful wife and child.  Not to mention has more than his fair share of wealth.  Tiger Woods was known to say inspiring, loving words such as these;  "Family always comes first.  It always has been in my life, and always will."  So how do 14 mistresses, a broken family, and sex addiction recovery follow statements such as those?  It's hard to believe, but too many people let money and fame get the best of them.  Tiger took advantage of his situation and he, his family, and his image are suffering greatly.  Fidelity was far from his mind as he lived out his so called dream.  Now we'll see if his family can forgive him, and he can get focus on what trulely matters.
